Mullet Fish Cakes

Fish cakes are a classic dish that is found all over the world. It has been a way of using up leftovers that might otherwise be thrown away.

Ingredients per 1000g (1 kg) of meat

Cooked mullet trimmings, finely chopped 453 g 1 lb
Potatoes, cooked and mashed 453 g 1 lb
Small onion, finely chopped or grated 1 1
Butter 1 Tbsp 1 Tbsp
Heavy cream 1/4 cup 1/4 cup
White pepper 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste 1/2 tsp 1/2 tsp
Parsley, chopped 1/4 cup 1/4 cup
Egg, beaten 1 1
Bread crumbs As needed As needed

Instructions

  1. Combine everything together and mix well.
  2. Form into cakes, roll first in beaten egg, then in bread crumbs.
  3. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
